Scott Boeckmann #5

On his way to tryout for the Till in NYC, Scott and his tribal guides were forced to cross the Mojave, a desert so hot it was considered impassable. During the cross, many of the guides told tales of fallen companions, but all agreed that if the desert decides to take you, it is written that you must be taken. Scott quietly disagreed. On the last day, they traveled day and night to reach water. At night however, one of his guides, Lewis, had succumbed to fatigue and fallen off his horse, unnoticed. The next morning the party continued on and made it to Lake Mead. However, Scott turned back for the lost man alone, risking his own life. When he rescued Lewis, the guides were very impressed. And even the delirious Lewis understood that "nothing is written."
